I don’t know about you, but I’ve always wondered what my calling is. What I was put in this world to do. I don’t know that there is just one answer to that question, or that I’ll ever figure it out, but the person I talk to in this episode has definitely found hers.
Hady Mendez is sure that her life’s calling is to work against injustices, and she’s found multiple ways of doing this. I sit down with Hady to talk about how her career journey — from working as a missionary to her role as head of equality at Slack to now building her own company — has kept her calling at the center of it all. We talk about finding your purpose, taking big risks and how to craft your story when you are going through a career change.
Hady is the founder and CEO of Boldly Speaking LLC, a company that aspires to expand the conversation around Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB). Through her role as a speaker and facilitator, Hady encourages employees and leaders to play an active role in creating more inclusive workplaces.
Hady previously served as Head of Equality for a major tech firm, held multiple customer-facing roles in high tech and financial services, served as a leader across various Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), volunteered abroad with incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women, and served as Community School Director at an elementary school in the South Bronx.
